Chapter 631: Provocation
Chapter 631: Provocation
Langya Wenqiu, like a wild horse released from its reins, rushed toward her parents. “Father, Mother, I've missed you so much!”
The couple, however, walked past their daughter and headed straight to Fang Chen, calling out to him with great enthusiasm, “Lord Fang, you must be tired from the journey. Thank you for your hard work.”
“I am Langya Wenxia. I’ve heard from my third sister that you have taken great care of her. I am deeply grateful!” said the young man, courteously addressing Fang Chen.
He bowed, showing respect.
Langya Wenqiu looked bewildered. “Father, Mother!? Second Brother?”
Grandma Li watched the scene with a faint smile. She whispered to Langya Wenqiu, “It seems that the head of the family and his wife are quite pleased with Mr. Fang.”
Langya Wenqiu couldn’t be more puzzled. “Pleased? What do you mean?”
Grandma Li smiled but did not elaborate.
Fang Chen returned a bow. “Uncle and Aunt, you’re too kind....”
“The old ancestor was delighted to hear that Wenqiu had a senior to look after her. We’ve been waiting to meet you and Wenqiu,” the head of the Langya family said cheerfully. “Let’s not delay any further and go see him.”
Langya Wenqiu was surprised to learn that they had arrived earlier than expected. “Father, Mother, has the old ancestor already arrived?”
The head of the Langya family nodded. “Yes, this matter is of great importance, so the old ancestor arrived at the Cloud Platform as soon as possible.”
At that moment, a group of people approached from not far away. The leader, a middle-aged man, laughed when he saw the head of the Langya Clan, and then walked over with his entourage.
“Brother Da Zhao, is your third daughter here? I’ve heard she’s a disciple of the Void Immortal Sword Sect. Let me have a look,” the leader said with a smirk.
Langya Dazhao’s expression darkened instantly. He replied coldly, “Brother Wei Yuan, we’re not that familiar with each other. Are you not afraid that the Qin Family might think you’re trying to ally with our clan?”
Langya Wenqiu recognized the newcomers. She immediately deduced their identity. She sent a message to Fang Chen, “Senior Brother Fang, Wei Yuan is the head of the Long Wei Clan, closely allied with the Immortal Qin Clan. Over the past few months, he has killed many of our clan’s cultivators.”
Wei Yuan laughed heartily, “The Immortal Qin Clan isn’t so petty. What can a few words between us represent?”
He then cast his gaze over Langya Wenqiu, a smirk on his face. “Little girl, are you Langya Wenqiu? It’s impressive that you’re a disciple of the Void Immortal Sword Sect. My son, Wei Haisheng, has reached a suitable age for marriage. I wonder if you would be willing to become his partner?”
A pale-skinned young man, with slightly red lips, sneered and leered at Langya Wenqiu.
He paused, then continued with frustration, “I don’t understand why the Wei Clan, with such connections, would still listen to the Qin Family’s orders. They’re even dragging in the Nine Generations King’s Manor to suppress us.”
“It’s because their connections are with the Qin Family, or more precisely, with the Azure Dao Manor’s Prefect,” Fang Chen said.
He suspected that Wei Yuan’s son’s opportunity to become a personal attendant to the Ninth Prince was likely tied to the influence of the Azure Dao Manor Prefect. This connection to a powerful force was a strategic move to ensure that the Wei Clan’s interests aligned with the Qin Clan, especially given the negotiation still had several days to go.
Fang Chen’s divine soul departed and loomed over Wei Yuan’s group.
“Why deliberately provoke Langya Da Zhao?” Wei Yuan’s son, Wei Haisheng, asked.
“To let him know that you’ll soon be appointed to the Nine Generations King’s Manor,” Wei Yuan replied calmly. “This will give the Void Immortal Sword Sect an idea of our stance. Since the negotiations are still a few days away, it’s better to be prepared.”
Wei Haisheng’s eyes lit up with understanding. “So it was merely a test.”
Fang Chen smiled. So that’s indeed the case.
As an Enlightenment Realm cultivator, Wei Yuan wasn’t acting out of mere provocation. Such actions were likely part of a larger strategy to gauge the reactions and preparations of those involved.
As soon as his divine soul returned, Langya Da Zhao stopped contemplating and invited him and Langya Wenqiu to meet the ancestors of the Langya Clan.
“Brother Fang, it should be fine. A few more senior brothers and sisters are also on their way. The Ninth Prince's Manor shouldn’t support the Immortal Qin faction,” Langya Wenqiu comforted through voice transmission, worried that she might have caused trouble for Fang Chen.
Seeing her concern for him, Fang Chen smiled and shook his head. “Yes, I also believe there won’t be any issues.”
No one knew that Killing Spiritual Division was making a move. Not the Immortal Qin clan, the Langya clan, or even the Azure Dao Prefect. Hell, not even the Ninth Prince or the Spirit Blood Sect were aware.
Considering Killing Spiritual Division’s capabilities, if they claimed they could stop the war, then they were at least 80% sure. After all, they are backed by a revered First Rate Sect Leader
Soon, they were led to a pavilion on the Cloud Platform. At that moment, more than ten elders were standing in the pavilion. They were either in the Enlightenment Realm or the Soul Splitting Realm, with two being in the Fusion Realm.
In the pavilion, only one elder was sitting, and was the same ancestor of the Langya Clan that Fang Chen had seen in the Heaven Profound Mirror, a cultivator at the Fusion Realm!
Langya Wenqiu immediately stepped forward, cupping her fist with utmost respect. “I, Wenqiu, pay my respects to ancestor.”
Fang Chen also cupped his fist. “I, Fang Chen, pay my respects to senior,”
“No need for such formality, everyone, please rise. Come in and sit with me for a while,” the Langya Clan’s ancestor said with a smile in his eyes, waving his hand kindly.
